It’s not too late to get out of town on a seasonal getaway to one of these cities where you’ll find more sights than just sandy beaches.

As peak spring break season winds down, now is the perfect time to plan your own getaway. (Bonus: You’ll avoid the college crowds.) And instead of hitting up the usual hotspots like Florida, consider traveling to some less obvious destinations such as Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and New York City. These cities start to come alive in the springtime and offer up a variety of attractions, cultural to-dos, and activities that make for a fun last-minute trip.

Washington, D.C.

Head to our nation’s capital and catch the tail end of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC, which runs until April 16, to peep the pretty petals before they’re gone. Plus, if you’re traveling with kids, the city offers plenty of entertaining and educational things to do and see including the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and the International Spy Museum. Our Club Quarters property in D.C., which is located just two blocks from the White House, serves as a good home base for exploring the monuments and museums.

San Francisco

Like D.C., San Francisco begins to bloom in the spring, especially at the Japanese Tea Garden, which boasts a collection of stunning cherry blossoms. And despite the seemingly perpetual presence of fog, the city’s rising temperatures during this time make exploring the great outdoors a pleasant experience. If you’re visiting around the Easter holiday with your family, be sure to check out the over-the-top egg hunt in Golden Gate Park that includes carnival rides, games, live entertainment, and food trucks. Situated at the center of San Francisco’s financial district, close to the Ferry Building Marketplace, our Club Quarters hotel provides convenient access to shops, restaurants, parks, and more.

New York City

New York City is always a good idea. With countless things to do and see year round—from dining and shopping to visiting landmark attractions and seeing a Broadway show—the city serves as the perfect last-minute getaway. Plus, it’s easy to get to, with lots of access to airports, train stations, and bus terminals. You’re also likely to experience pleasant weather around this time, making outdoor activities like walking, biking, and exploring more enjoyable in comparison to the humid summers and cold winters. Our Club Quarters properties are located throughout the city in tourist-friendly neighborhoods, such as Midtown East, Times Square, and the Financial District.

London

Consider traveling to London now in order to enjoy its popular sights like the Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, and Big Ben before the summertime crowds descend on the city. With King Charles’ coronation right around the corner (it’s happening May 6), there will be plenty of pomp and circumstance to see as the city gears up for the historic celebration. Conveniently located throughout the city, our Club Quarters hotels serve as ideal spots for exploring all the places you want to see including Covent Garden, the Theatre District, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Leadenhall Market.

Pro travel tip: Remember to pack an umbrella as London is known for its year-round misty weather conditions, but don’t let that dampen your spring break fun.

Boston

Although it won’t be as warm as Palm Beach (think more like temps in the low 50s to 60s), Boston makes for an unexpected yet excellent spring break destination, especially for families with school-age kids. Take a ride on the swan boats in the Public Garden, walk along the Freedom Trail to learn about the nation’s history, catch a Red Sox game, and grab a slice of pie in the North End neighborhood. Plus, you can cheer on the runners April 17, when the Boston Marathon takes to the streets. Situated in the center of downtown, our CQ hotel is within walking distance of the city’s waterfront, as well as Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston Common, and the Freedom Trail.

Looking for a spring break spot that’s off the beaten beach path? Then consider visiting one of these cities (and staying at one of our Club Quarter hotels) where you’ll find a range of cultural activities, attractions, family-friendly fun, and more. Plus, your pooch can join you at any of our dog-friendly hotels.
