When you have Netflix, a cuddly bed and zero interruptions, it’s tempting to stay indoors on days (weeks, months) like these. But if you can rouse yourself from the relaxation, Chicago, Wacker at Michigan is perfectly situated for a cultural foray on your weekend date.
Just outside, the Riverwalk itself is like an open-air gallery adorned with colorful works of art. Look for the newly created mural by artist Kate Lynn Lewis, “The Radiance of Being,” which celebrates 100 years of Art Deco architecture.
While you’re enjoying the outdoor art, you can also create your own. Walk alongside a local photographer on The Magnificent Mile and Riverwalk, and come home with a collection of frame-worthy shots.
Van Gogh visits Old Town! At “Immersive Van Gogh,” you can step into “Starry Night” and “The Bedroom in Arles” in this high-tech exhibition of projections and music celebrating the Dutch painter’s work. Experience it while staying distanced at Lighthouse ArtSpace at Germania Club.
Once you’re done binging on Schitt’s Creek, pop in to a pop-up at Replay Lincoln Park. Running through April 1, “Schitt Happens” invites you to post your selfies at Rosebud Motel, the café and even with Moira’s girls — her beloved wall of wigs. While you’re there, pick up a few locally sourced goods from Rose Apothecary.
Nostalgia hits hard at Chicago Gamespace. In a newly opened exhibit, learn the story of how Pac-Man nom-nommed his way into our hearts thanks to a Chicago-based publisher. “Nom Nom: 40 Years of Pac-Man Design and History” is an interactive experience running through May 30, 2021.
Curate your next great date and we’ll be here to provide all the amenities. Book a Date Night package to enjoy your stylish stay with speedy Wi-Fi and streaming entertainment, early check-in and late check-out, a free upgrade (when available) and a $25 Grubhub gift card.
