In keeping with the Lone Star State’s reputation, everything about Houston is larger than life. The city is spread out over nearly 700 square miles — but all that urban sprawl is peppered with endless opportunities to fill up on unique experiences. America’s fourth largest city, Houston is home to a vibrant arts and music scene, interesting museums and curious landmarks that just beg to be photographed and added to your social media feed. And if you stay at Club Quarters Houston, you’ll be a quick drive or walk away from most of them. Here are some of our picks to help maximize your visit.

Arts and Culture

If you didn’t think Houston was a hub for museum-hopping, think again. The city is home to some truly unique ones, like the Museum of Funeral History. Located a 30-minute drive north of the hotel, it showcases cultural traditions, science and mythology around death. There’s also the Art Car Museum, where cars are turned into works of art. It’s just ten minutes from Club Quarters Houston by car. Looking for something a bit more traditional? The Museum of Fine Arts and the Houston Museum of Natural Science are both within 15 minute’s driving distance from the hotel. If you’re up for a drive, pencil in a visit to the Space Center Houston. It’s about a 45-minute drive from Club Quarters Houston, but the exhibits are truly out of this world.

Live Music

It’s There’s Dan Electro’s, one of Houston’s oldest venues for live music, located in the Heights. It’s hosted all kinds of artists since 1988, and is just a 20-minute drive north of the hotel. Last Concert Café is another icon and even older than Dan Electro’s. Located seven minutes from the hotel by car on Nance Street, it’s entertained visitors since the ‘40s. Today it hosts local, regional and internationally recognized artists in its backyard area, dubbed Dawn’s Margarita Garden and Soundstage. the perfect go-to for tasty drinks and high-energy performances.
