The dining scene in Chicago will wow even the most discerning foodies. No matter what you’re in the mood for, you’re in for some crave-worthy flavors.
Heading to Chicago for business or just craving a fun and fulfilling city getaway? Let Club Quarters be your home base. With two properties to choose from in the heart of the Loop — from some of the city’s top spots, and an easy train ride from some of its most storied foodie neighborhoods. Here’s our insider’s guide to eating and drinking out in the city.
Food & Drinks
Chicago is a food- and cocktail-lover’s dream. The city is home to more than 20 Michelin-starred restaurants and plenty of acclaimed drinking and dining spots.
First-timers should definitely dedicate at least one meal to the city’s iconic deep-dish pizza, then move on to explore some of its many amazing global offerings. Lou Malnati’s and Giordano’s are the two biggest contenders when it comes to this thick, doughy, cheesy delight, though you’ll also find plenty of mom-and-pop shops that also claim their pies are the best in town. If you’re in the mood for Chicago-style Italian fine dining, Victory Tap in the South Loop makes award-winning meatballs and some of the city’s best and biggest parmesans.
Head to Chinatown for authentic Asian cuisine — it’s about 30 minutes away on the Red, Green or Orange lines. From Korean barbecue you can cook yourself at Daebok to contemporary Mongolian, Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine at MCCB Chicago, this charming cultural hub feels a world away from Midwest. After you’ve feasted on some incredible flavors, head to one of Chinatown’s lively karaoke bars for some shochu and singing.
Make a stop in Greektown (also about 30 minutes away from both Club Quarters hotels via the Blue Line) for a true taste of the Aegean. Restaurants like Atropolis, Greek Islands and Athena serve up delicious flavors that will transport you from Paros to Patmos and from Mykonos to Meteora. Or hit up Chicago’s Ukrainian Village for flavors from Eastern Europe — the cozy, family-owned Podhalanka serves up some of the city’s most authentic, delicious Polish food.
The West Loop is a buzzing hub of award-winning bars and restaurants, and definitely worth a visit during your stay if you consider yourself a foodie. It’s where you’ll find world-renowned Michelin-star spots like Elske and Oriole, as well as lots of cool global concepts like Gaijin, known for its Japanese okonomiyaki and also Michelin-starred, the saloon-themed Fox Bar and Roo, which serves up creative takes on Indian cuisine.
And in River North you’ll find all kinds of posh places to enjoy a sophisticated date night, followed by tasty cocktails and great music at haunts like The Broken Shaker, Arbella, Highline and Three Dots and a Dash — an icon at the center of the city’s tiki cocktail scene.
